TIMBERTOP alpacas was established in 1994 after hand selecting a group of females and mating them to a selection of elite males. Our aim has been to gain a genetic base unique to TIMBERTOP with a focus on breeding some of the finest fleeces in Australia. This led us to Oregon in the U.S. where we purchased a group of working and potential stud sires which have helped to develop an elite foundation herd of fine females. The genetics found in the TIMBERTOP herd are the result of an irresistible passion, commitment and love to breed high quality alpacas and super fine fleeces.
TIMBERTOP alpacas is situated in lush country on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula. The farm and sheds have been purpose built to specialize in alpacas and our years of hard work, careful selection and culling of genetics has enabled us to now run a top quality herd of approximately 250 huacayas. The success of our energies can be seen in the histograms of our latest crop of yearlings which are down in the 14 and 15 micron range with SD's under 3.0.
We have backed up our expertise with consistent championship success in the show rings Australia wide, and our focus now, is to build on our success and share our genetics and expertise with the rest of the world's serious alpaca breeders. Our reputation for breeding quality animals has continued to grow and we are delighted to say we have happy clientele in the UK, Europe and New Zealand who own Timbertop animals.
